LMNT [pronounced element] is the new band with three of Making the Band 's eight finalists: Bryan Chan, Mike Miller and Ikaika Kahoano. They've teamed up with Broadway's "Footloose" Matthew Morrison to form a not-so-boy-band.
How it all started : After being cut from ABC’s “Making the Band”, Bryan Chan and Mike Miller were approached by another management company who encouraged them to put together a “man-band.” Mike and Bryan proceeded to audition off the remaining spots for their band with disappointing results. Finally their publicist introduced them to Matt, and they immediately clicked. After a call from Ikaika confirming his interest in joining, the band was complete.
What’s in a name : Searching for a timeless and unique group name, the boys turned to Teen People Online to let the fans pick. 7,000 submissions later, they narrowed it down to a final four. After hearing the definition of the word “Element”, the boys agreed that they liked the symbolic meaning. The four basic substances that make up the universe : earth, wind, fire, and water are completely different yet coexist in harmony.
Music : Currently the boys only have a demo done. Click here to hear a sample! They describe their music as a blend between Pop and R&B, “BoyzIIMen with and edge.” They are working on adding choreography to the pieces, as well as securing a record label. Look forward to a release in 2001.
