The resuscitation wasn’t a healing process. The very absence of healing, this wound, did not denote, but enhanced the materiality, more markedly physical by its encounter with the knife that had torn the chest open.

Why was this immortal body still injured?

The fullness of life, the intensity of eternal living celebrated this contradiction. Whereas time was progressive and cyclical, eternity IS - and that is all. Will, simply IS, at his utmost. The departure was the coming back.
The end the beginning.

For Jack, it was quite simple, really. To believe, all it took was a bit of bodyfaith.
