生平小传
Legolas 代表森林王国的辛达精灵们与3019年来到瑞文戴尔参加爱隆德王的会议，并被选作精灵族的代表加入魔戒小队。在箩林，Legolas 和 Gimli成为亲密的伙伴，友谊至此持续一生。Legolas敏锐的视力和高超的箭术成为他对护戒小队最大的贡献。当小队分裂时， Legolas 和 Gimli 还有 Aragorn 全力追踪梅里和皮平，并在圣盔谷参加了一场恶战。他最后来到冈多，参加了佩兰诺原野之战（注：按译林版译法）：在冈多的时候，他第一次看到大海，自从那一刻起，便被自己深深的对于扬帆远航的愿望所征服。在魔戒之战结束之后，他和Gimli 一道游览了金光洞（注同样按译林版，真的是很蹩脚的译法= =），踏访了梵贡森林。在第四纪120年Aragorn 去世之后，驾船出海，同行的是矮人Gimli，中州魔戒队的故事至此结束。

Legolas是森林精灵通用语的一个名字（注：即 一个辛达语的名字），森林精灵的祖先是辛达精灵，所以他的名字用完整的辛达语形式拼是Laegolas。
“Legolas”这个名字是由几部分组成的。
“leg”—green的意思，辛达语的形式是“ laeg”。
“golas或者是-olas”指叶子，叶子的总称。
我认为因为g在 “leg”词后，而又是 “golas”一词的开头，所以在Legolas这个名字里“-olas”这个形式就被应用了。意思就是：“绿叶”（或绿叶的总称）。在“ golas”或“-olas”里辛达语的“ las”也有叶子的含义，而且可证实的是，这个词是由高等精灵语（注：应该是昆雅语）“lasse”引申而来的，而在昆雅语（注：辛达也是）中的标准形式是“olassië”。就象托尔金自己说的那样，这是一个非常适合森林精灵的名字！

Tall and fair, bright eyes, hair color is debated, some say dark, others say blonde, sufficient evidence as to either is not available. He wore the attire of the Silvan elves of Mirkwood, chiefly green and brown.
Biography
Sindarin elf of the woodland realm, in the year 3019, Legolas journeyed to Rivendell to sit on the Council of Elrond, and was chosen to represent the Elves in the Fellowship. In Lorien, Legolas and Gimli became close friends, a friendship that lasted the rest of their lives. Legolas' keen sight and archery skills were his greatest asset to the Fellowship. After the Breaking of the Fellowship, Legolas went with Gimli and Aragorn in search of Merry and Pippin, and fought in the battle of Hornburg. He eventually went to Gondor, and fought in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields; while in Gondor, he had his first glimpse of the sea, and was overcome by a deep desire to sail from that moment on. After the War of the Ring, he journeyed with Gimli to visit the Glittering Caves and Fangorn Forest. In the Year 120 FO, after the death of Aragorn, Legolas sailed over the sea, taking Gimli the dwarf with him, the last of the Fellowship.
His Name
Legolas is a dialectal name of the Woodland Elves. The Woodland Elves are of the Sindar stock and the pure Sindarin form of his name is Laegolas. 'Legolas' is composed of leg 'green', a dialectal form of Sindarin laeg; and Sindarin golas/-olas 'collection
of leaves, foliage.' I guess because of the 'g' at the end of leg and the one at the beginning of golas, in Legolas' name, the form -olas is applied. The meaning is
thus: 'green-leaves' (or 'green collection of leaves', or 'green foliage'). In golas/-olas, the Sindarin component las 'leaf', can be distinguished, itself a derivative of the High Elven lasse. The High Elven form of golas is olassië. As Tolkien said himself, it is indeed a very suitable name for a Woodland Elf.
