THE boss of an overseas property developer rubbed shoulders with Hollywood's finest at the launch of his £1.1bn development in Dubai.
Mark Stott, chief executive of Wilmslow-based Select Property, threw a lavish party at the Hempel Hotel in London for the launch of Aquitainia on The World - a Dubai offshore development - and boasted Pirates Of The Caribbean actor Orlando Bloom and Girls Aloud's Sarah Harding as guests.
Entertainment was a live performance from Grammy award winner Kelly Rowland. Following a speech from Mr Stott, a video message came from Hilary Swank.
Mr Stott said the company had a `fantastic' response to the launch, with many investors turning up to find out more about the development.
The World is a development of 300 man-made islands, four kilometres off Dubai. Other investors include Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who bought an island called Ethiopia.
He says: "Orlando Bloom attended the event as ambassador of Aquitainia, and everyone enjoyed Kelly Rowland's show-stopping performance'.
"The fact that Hilary Swank did a video message for us, as she was unable to attend, really accentuates the uniqueness of the project and shows how keen she is to be part of this development."
Select Property's party in Dubai itself place on Sunday, Stott says he expect even more people to attend.
He set up Select Property four years ago. Today it has a turnover of more than £500m. Mr Stott has been shortlisted for the 2008 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and National Business Awards Credit Suisse Entrepreneur of the Year.
